Guide

How to export Fathom transcripts in bulk

When you need more than one recording, copying transcripts meeting by meeting gets slow. This guide shows the practical path: get your Fathom API key, filter the meetings you need, and export transcripts into files you own.

Best for teams moving customer calls, sales calls, research interviews, or internal meetings out of Fathom for archive, review, or AI workflows.

Workflow

How to do it

  1. Open Fathom and generate an API key from your user settings.
  2. Install Extract for Fathom from the Chrome Web Store.
  3. Paste the API key into the extension. The key stays in Chrome storage on your device.
  4. Filter by date range or meeting title keyword before exporting.
  5. Select transcripts and choose Markdown, TXT, JSON, or CSV.
  6. Download one ZIP with transcript files and an index.csv manifest.

Manual vs Extract

Where Extract removes the busywork

Manual workflow

  • Open each Fathom recording individually.
  • Copy or download one transcript at a time.
  • Rename files by hand so dates and titles are usable later.
  • Build your own index if you need to audit what was exported.

With Extract for Fathom

  • Export matching Fathom transcripts in one run.
  • Keep transcript processing inside your browser.
  • Save Markdown, TXT, JSON, and CSV formats together.
  • Use the included index.csv to review the archive.

Meeting content stays local

Extract's Chrome extension talks directly to Fathom with your API key and builds the export ZIP in your browser. The Rails app only handles license checks, checkout, and anonymous diagnostics. It does not receive transcripts, summaries, highlights, or action items.

Questions

Common questions
